The Ultimate Comfort Mac and Cheese
Ingredients:
- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 3 cups whole milk
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 tsp paprika (optional)
- 1/4 tsp mustard powder (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Cook the Pasta:
Boil the elbow macaroni in a large pot of salted water according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside. - Make the Cheese Sauce:
In a separate large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk constantly for about 1-2 minutes until it forms a roux (a thick paste). Slowly add the milk, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens. - Add the Seasonings:
Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, paprika, and mustard powder. Adjust seasonings to taste. - Melt the Cheese:
Gradually add the cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese to the sauce, stirring until all the cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth. - Combine Pasta and Sauce:
Add the cooked pasta to the cheese sauce and stir until well-coated. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a splash of milk to achieve your desired consistency. - Serve and Garnish:
Serve hot, topped with a sprinkle of chopped fresh parsley for a burst of color and flavor.
Enjoy your creamy, comforting mac and cheese, perfect for cozy nights or family gatherings!
